The program, <a title=\"IAE Website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.2041.com\/antarctic-expeditions\/\" target=\"_blank\">Inspire Antarctica Expedition 2011<\/a>, \u00a0 was organized by a California-based Non-Profit called 2<a title=\"2041 website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.2041.com\" target=\"_blank\">041: For \tthe Preservation of Antarctica<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\"><strong>What I did in Antarctica:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Recorded and produced an educational podcasting series.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">I firmly believe that knowledge sharing doesn&#8217;t happen anymore in a closed room or in \ta boring slideshow. It is anything but passive or individual: it is mobile, it is engaging,  \tit is experiential. It goes beyond borders and it should aspire to be delightful!<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">For this expedition, I secured a domain:  <a title=\"Keep It Blue\" href=\"http:\/\/www.keepitblue.org\" target=\"_blank\">KeepItBlue.org<\/a> where I will mash the \tcontent under a Creative Commons license.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">For the podcasting content, a curriculum suitable for K12  is being developed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">All assets will be shared not only online but facilitated in workshops, round tables and \tsimilar face-to-face engagements (which I think are the most important).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Why Antarctica?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">As part of IAE 2011, it is my aim to be an advocate for our planet and help strengthen a \tnetwork of international leaders who foster new technologies, policies and frameworks \tto create awareness of the impacts that human actions have in Antarctica, many times \tthought to be \u2018\u2018Out of Sight, Out of Mind\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The fragile ecosystem of Antarctic Peninsula contains <strong>91%<\/strong> of the world\u2019s ice and <strong>70% of \tall fresh water<\/strong>. 2041 is when the ban on drilling and mining in Antarctica ends.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">A rise of 2.5 C (4F) has happened since the 1940s. If all of Antarctica where to melt, it is \tpredicted that the sea level would rise over 20 feet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Passion, Purpose &amp; Precedent.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">My passion is interconnecting people. I am interested in being part of the Inspire \tAntarctica Expedition (IAE) 2011 as the Oceans are dear in my heart. In 2007, I attended \ta unique study abroad program that took place in a dedicated passenger cruise ship \tand sailed around the world for 16 \tweeks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a title=\"TSS Blog\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mediaalchemy.org\/ocean\/\" target=\"_blank\">Being at sea for 110 days of my life<\/a> was a transformative experience. It brought me \tcloser to realize how precious our readily limited resources are and how important \teducation, passion and commitment are to preserve the only planet we can presently \tshare our existence with other species.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>How can sponsors get involved?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">I think there is a strong opportunity for brands to get involved either sponsoring the podcasting series and educational engagements leading to the 2012 Inspire Antarctica Expedition.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The Inspire Antarctica Expedition is a unique opportunity for organizations &amp; \tcompanies to:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Associate with a progressive cause in the minds of everyone<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Showcase commitment to education, corporate stewardship + values<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Generate brand awareness through products, services and expedition support<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What happens after Antarctica?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;\">My commitment is to edit the content and format it in close coordination for use in K12 as well as for use in KeepItBlue.org<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;\">Podcasts would be released weekly in early Summer through Fall 2011.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.1944px;\">I will also make \tmyself available to travel around the country and abroad to engage with local \tcommunities and bring back what I learned to the expedition sponsors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;\">Lets set sail together.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;\"><a title=\"#IamOcean\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/search\/%23iamocean\" target=\"_blank\">#IamOcean<\/a> and so can you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was part of IAE11 this March.
